Burkina Faso — The Vocational High School
The LPT3AE in Loumbila, founded and led by Mr Evariste Zongo, trains rural youth for careers in agriculture and forestry.
The Vocational High School (LPT3AE)
The Technical Vocational High School for Agriculture, Agri-food, Agro-forestry, Livestock and Renewable Energies — known as LPT3AE or simply "The High School" — is a private institution founded and led by Mr Evariste Zongo, recognised as a public-interest body. It trains young people from rural areas for careers in agriculture and forestry.
It offers two programmes: a 2-year course leading to the BEP vocational certificate, then a course leading to the vocational Baccalaureate.
Remarkable results
The school’s students regularly achieve excellent results in national exams; every BEP and Bac Pro student passed their final exam in 2026. For the 2026-2027 school year, the school will have 115 students, 40% girls and 60% boys.
Multiple sources of funding
The school is funded by local sources (land purchase, launch), donations from a Swiss philanthropic foundation (classrooms, dormitories, sanitation, kitchens, dining hall, a conference room, perimeter wall) and another Swiss foundation (a ten-station computer room).
The Mire-Mont Foundation’s support
The Foundation supports the school in four ways:
- study grants for young people from particularly disadvantaged villages;
- one-off projects: a well, an irrigation network, a nursery, two greenhouses, a chemistry-biology lab, a shipping container for tool storage;
- programme extensions: a computer centre, an electricity and photovoltaics workshop, a grafting workshop, an agricultural mechanics centre;
- a 60 HP tractor (auger, trailer, subsoiler): a teaching tool that dramatically improves farm work.
The June 2026 open day
The school held its open day in June 2026. This video, filmed on that occasion, shows the breadth of the academic and practical programme as well as the school’s energy.
